Imphal: Workers of Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council on Monday staged a protest demonstration at Irabot Bhavan complex Imphal demanding the Centre to probe into Adani scam and denouncing the
Union Budget 2023-2024.
According to a press release issued by CPI Manipur State Council Assistant Secretary M Joykumar, former CPI Manipur State Secretary L Sotinkumar, Assistant Secretary M Joykumar, State Secretary L Thoiren and Assistant
Secretary N Singhajit spoke on the Union Budget and Adani scam.
CPI Assistant Secretary M Joykumar said that government budget reflects the economy of the country in terms of annual revenue income, outlay. Whether the budget expenditure of the government will benefit
the people of the country need to be studied. The Union Budget 2023-24 reflects an outlay of Rs.45,00000 crore and revenue income of Rs.27,00000 crore. The country is going to face a revenue deficit of Rs.18,00000
crore deficit, he said.
He said that the Budget does not have provision to increase income tax on rich people to boost revenue income of the country. The revenue deficit amounting Rs. 55,00000 crore in 2014 will now shoot up to
Rs.150 lakh crore in 2023. Common people of the country will shoulder the burden of this huge deficit. Crorepatis of the country will not repay the loan, he added.
