Ukhrul: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated the PSA Oxygen generator plant in District Hospital, Ukhrul on Monday which is funded under 15th Finance Commission Grant in the presence of Rajen Singh, Minister of Education, Vungzagin Valte, Minister, TA and Hills, Transport, GAD Manipur, Khashim Vashum, MLA 45-Chingai AC (ST), V. Vumlunmang, Principal Secretary Health and Family welfare, and Dr Yaronsho Ngalung, Caretaker Chairman, ADC Ukhrul.

Dr Rajesh Kumar, Chief Secretary GoM, Joseph Pauline Kamson, DC, Ukhrul, Dr Kapangring A Shimray,CMO Ukhrul and his colleagues, Polly Makn, CEO ADC, Ukhrul and her colleagues, DIG range Senior police officers, DLOs, Tangkhul CSO leaders, NHIDCL, Village Authority Hungpung and Ukhrul attended the program.

The program commenced with a blessing by Rev Mathotmi Vasha followed by unveiling of plaque and cutting of ribbon for the Oxygen plant by the chief minister.

In his welcome speech, Joseph Pauline DC Ukhrul said, “Today is a red letter day in the medical history of Ukhrul district’. He also said that we are seeing the fruit of the CM’s last visit to district headquarters on 24th May 2021 to review Covid-19 situation.

In his inaugural speech CM appreciated doctors and nurses for having successfully delivered babies of five Covid-19 positive mothers. He mentioned that the new government’s mission is not to isolate any particular region but to ensure equal distribution of materials. He mentioned that one special hospital will be opened in Shirui. There are a total seven Oxygen plants in the whole of Manipur.

He emphasized on encouraging the youth to take interest in sports to reduce drug use. For higher education, enough funds are to be invested towards Pettigrew College, Ukhrul.

He showed his concern on scarcity of water caused by deforestation in Shirui. He encouraged planting of more trees by taking funds from the forest dept under Manipur Green Mission.

In conclusion CM warned not to be careless during this curfew relaxation, take precaution, maintain SOP, and get treatment instead of medicating at home.

CMO expressed his gratitude to CM and Principal Secy Health and welfare regularizing the NHN staff. He also showed appreciation for providing Surgeon, Orthopedics, anesthetics and other medical staffs and requested for physicians and nurses, supporting staff, and incentive and payment for dedicated Covid-19 staff.

TKS submitted a memorandum, regarding the setting up of a state library in the District HQ.
