Imphal : Health & IPR Minister Dr. S. Ranjan Singh has said that mental disorder saw an increase during Covid period. Minister S. Ranjan was speaking as Chief Guest at the inaugural function of National Midterm CME (Continuing Medical Education) of APSI organised under the aegis of Addiction Psychiatry Society of India (APSI) at the Jubilee Hall of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, RIMS on Wednesday
The Minister said that youngsters of the present days have derailed their carrier by using drugs with many getting addicted to drugs, thus becoming a menace in the State.
He said that the government under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has launched War on Drugs campaign. This is a holistic step to check the threat which we all should extend our support, headed.
He also said that the State is rich in many sectors which is not acknowledged by the other states. The Minister invited the participants particularly those who are from outside the State to visit the historic and interesting palaces of the state.
He also mentioned that there are many places in the State which has connection with the history of India. Speaking as President, Director, RIMS, Prof. H. Priyosakhi Devi said that psychiatry is a big subject and such programmes will prove beneficial in the State.
There has been a trend during the recent days that the use of alcohol by ladies has increased. Such programmes will help check the disturbing trend, she added. Prof. Atul Ambedkar, Secretary General, Addiction Psychiatric Societyof India (APSI), Dr. Nepram Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent RIMS, Prof. R.K. Lenin Singh, Dr. S. Gojendro Singh also graced the occasion. Experts, delegates from across the country and others were also present during the occasion.
