Former minister RV Mingthing no more, Many condole

Imphal: Former Minister of state RV Mingthing has passed away at his Lamphel Sana keithel residence in Imphal on Monday late night. He breathed his last at 92. RV Minthing was a Tangkhul Naga political veteran who actively involved in many activities to bring emotional integration between the hill and the valley.
Minthing was born on April 20, 1931 at Kuirei village, Ukhrul district. He was staying at Lamphel Sanakeithel Imphal. RV Mingthing served as president, Manipur State Congress (MSCP) from 2004-2007.
He contested elections from Chingai constituency and served as minister of state for Tribal Affairs and Sports from 1989 to 1990. He also served as chairman, Hill Area Committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly in the year 1985-1989. He served as chairman, Autonomous District Council of Ukhrul district,
Manipur for three years, from 1975 to 1978. He was the founder member of the United Naga Council and the Lui-Ngai-Ni Festival of the Naga communities in Manipur. He also served as president, Tangkhul Naga
Long from 1981-1983, vicepresident, Senior Citizen for Society, Manipur, vice-president, Manipur State Scout Union and advisor, All Manipur Student Guardian Association.
Getting information about his demise, Transport Minister Khasim Vashum, former Deputy Speaker Presho Shimaray came to the residence of Mingthing to share condolence with the beraved family. Last rite of the Tangkhul political veteran will be held on Wednesday morning at 10 AM at Langol Lanthung Cemetery. Many leaders, individuals and CSOs of the state have mourned the demise of RV Mingthing.
MoS External Affairs &Education Dr RK Ranjan has mourned the demise of Mingthing. Ranjan tweeted: “Deeply saddened to learn the sudden demise of our beloved Ex-Minister Mr. RV Minthing. He left us a gap in the heart of everyone that can never be filled. My thoughts and prayers are with their
families and I convey my heartfelt condolences”.
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata in his condolence message said, “I am saddened
to hear that RV Mingthing, former Manipur State Congress, Minister who hailed from Ukhrul breathed
his last this morning at the age of 92 in his home at Lamphel. Elected from Chingai Assembly Constituency, Mingthing served as Chairman, Hill Areas Committee from 1985-1989. He also held various
other important posts during his lifetime such as founder member of United Naga Council, Tangkhul
Naga Long, Vice President, Senior Citizen for Society, Manipur etc. i express my heartfelt condolences
on his demise and also share in the grief of his bereaved family members”.
Hill Areas Committee Chairman Dinganglung Gangmei also mourned the demise of the late veteran
politician. Wakhallon Mannaba Apunba Lup, Meetei Nationa Front Kangleipak, CPI Manipur State
council, Meetei Pangal Egi Khongul Liba Foundation, Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur
also shared their condolences.
