1st round of National Deworming Day, 2023 launched

Imphal (DIPR): The First Round of National Deworming Day, 2023 was launched on Friday with Health & IPR Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, Education Minister Th. Basanta Kumar Singh, Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo Singh and Additional Chief Secretary V. Vumluinmang, IAS gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, President and Guests of Honour respectively.

Speaking at the event, Dr Ranjan said that the program of deworming is very important and as such all children and school going students below the age of 19 should join the campaign of National Deworming. Taking deworming tablets will enhance the hygiene of our children. It is also carried out in all Anganwadi centers and schools, he added.

Basanta Kumar said that schools, higher secondary schools and colleges will be instructed to take up such deworming programs. He said that the coordinating initiative of the Health Department is quite encouraging. This will help to prevent our children from having stomach problems, he added.

Dingo said that convergence of the three departments i.e. the Health Department, Social Welfare Department and Education Department and its coordinating efforts are necessary for fulfilling the objective of the deworming campaign.

There is a necessity for keeping our children in good health. There are many health schemes launched by the government. We all should cooperate with the government, the Minister added.

The launching programme was jointly organised by the Directorate of Health Services and State Health Society, Manipur at Ramakrishna Mission, Babupara.

Officials and staff of the Health Department, State Health Society and Family Welfare Department also attended the occasion. Students of Ramakrishna Mission School, Uripok were given deworming tablets by the dignitaries during the programme.

Senapati Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS also launched the 1st Round of National Deworming Day (NDD) at Primary School, Khabung Karong in Senapati. It was organised by the District Health Society, Senapati.

During the programme, Mahesh Chaudhari spoke on the importance of health and urged the teachers to take proper care of the health of the students and educate them in the right ways. He also administered students of the school with an Albendazole tablet as part of launching the NDD.

Later, the DC visited Karong Village B Anganwadi Centre along with Jain Huileng, MCS, ADM/CEO Senapati, Dr.Pfokreho Pfoze, CMO, Senapati and Adaha P.Chopullo DPO, ICDS, Senapati and interacted with the workers and helpers. Children belonging to that Anganwadi Centre were also administered with an Albendazole tablet.

The programme was attended by DLOs, Anganwadi workers, village authorities and students.
