Imphal: Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari said that government is targetting to complete the upgradation and expansion work of National Highway 202 (Imphal-Ukhrul) from Yaingangpokpi to Finch corner by May 2024.
The Union minister was replying to an unstarred question raised by MP Mahataja Leishemba Sanajaoba in the parliament on Wednesday.
The Minister said the work progress for upgradation and expansion work of National Highway 202 (Imphal-Ukhrul) from Yaingangpokpi to Finch corner has been hampered due to the delay in land acquisition and Forest clearance. The work is being executed in 2 packages of 17 km and 14 Km respectively.
Out of the totel length of 17 km, in package-1, land in 16 km has been handed over by the State government and compensation estimate for 860m is under finalization by DCs of Ukhrul and Kangpokpi districts. In respect of package 2, land in entire 14 km has been handed over. The Forest clearances for both packages have been accorded by Forest Department on March 1, 2023. Presently, the physical progress achieved in package is 52.03 percent and in package 2 is 43.52 percent, he added.
