Imphal: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that proper legal action will be initiated against the assailants involved in thrashing BJP Manipur Pradesh Spokesperson Mayanglambam Sureshkumar and BJYM Manipur Pradesh Office Secretary Alex Ningombam.

Chief Minister Biren who came to attend the 55th death anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya at Thambal Shanglen here on Saturday told reporters on the sidelines of the event that a heated argument between BJP Spokesperson Sureshkumar and Congress youth leader N Popilal took place during a panel discussion ion Impact TV.

However, there is no any enmity between BJP and Congress as fallout of the incident. The unwanted incident might have occurred due to personnel enmity. However, incidents of personnel attack and physical assault using arms after the TV debate is very unfortunate, he said.

He said that setting aside the fact that BJP is in power, the State Government will investigate the incident and will definitely punish the miscreants involved in the incident.

“We welcome healthy debate but condemn physical assault. Let police act according to the law. We have already lodged a complain with the police. The injured persons are now in the hospital. We demand the police once again to arrest the culprits and punish them according to

law of the land,” Chief Minister said.

The event held at Thambal Shanglen was attended by Ministers, MLAs, BJP Manipur President A Sharda Devi, former President Meinam Bhorot, Thounaojam Chaoba and workers of the Party. They paid floral tributes

to the portrait of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhya, and Shaheed Madhumangol.

With regard to the 55th death anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal, Chief Minister Biren urged the workers of BJP to follow the humanism and nationalism ideals once created by Pandit Din Dayal Upadhaya.

He also appealed to the gathering work and dedicate for an equal society with the spirit of serving the humanity, the poor and needy in particular.

Contending that Manipur society has no reading habit, the Chief Minister said that visitors throng festivals like Shingju Festival while Book

Mela looks deserted with less visitors. People of the country have now clearly learnt the ideology of BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the next leader to be worshiped next to Mahatama Gandhi, father of the nation, Biren added.
