Imphal: A day after curfew was clamped in all the five valley districts of Manipur, authorities announced curfew relaxation timing to facilitate the general public to purchase essential items including medicines and food.
An official order issued on January 2, 2024, said curfew has been relaxed from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. for Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, and Kakching districts on Wednesday.
Curfew relaxation for the Kakching district is from 5 a.m . to 5 p.m. and for the Bishnupur district is from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., it said.
“This relaxation shall not apply to any gathering or large scale movement of persons or sit in protest or rally, etc. which is unlawful in nature,” the official order said.
Further, all persons belonging to essential services such as Health, PHED, Municipal Officials or Staff, Power (MSPDCL/MSPCL), petrol pumps, CAF&PD, Media, functioning of Courts, schools/colleges and to and fro movement of flight passengers to airport shall be exempted from further imposition of curfew, the official order said.
On January 1, 2024, the State Government hurriedly clamped full curfew in five valley districts till further orders canceling the curfew relaxation order issued on December 31, 2023, and January 1, 2024, in the apprehension of law and order violations.
