Imphal: On receipt of reliable information about the presence of some active members of PREPAK (Pro) organisation at Lairenkabi Maning Leikai area, a team of CDO-IW led by OC CDO/IW Inspt P. Achouba
Meitei rushed to the area and conducted a search operation on Thursday.
In the search operation, one active member of PREPAK (Pro) organisation namely Chandam Chandramani Singh (45) alias Gambhir, son of (L) Ch. Thambou of Lairenkabi Maning Leikai was arrested at 6 am from his house, informed a source.
On spot body search, one mobile hanset was recovered from his possession. During preliminary verification, he disclosed that he started working for the organisation about one year back under s/s Commander Khambaton of PREPAK (Pro), Finance Section who is presently staying at Myanmar. He frequently communicates with his commander and under his instruction, he served monetary demands to several educational institutions in and around Imphal area and he was earlier arrested by security forces in the year 2001 as a KYKL member. Further, he disclosed that under the instruction of his commander he recruited one Sorokhaibam Khamba Meitei of Lairenkabi Mamang Leikai as an active member of
their organisation around two weeks back and he (Chandramani) was further instructed by his commander to bring him (Khamba) at Myanmar for performing their party activities, said the source.
Immediately, the police team along with the arrested person rushed to the house of Sorokhaibam Khamba located at Lairenkabi Mamang Leikai and successfully detained him from his house as pointed out by the arrestee. During spot body search, one mobile handset was also recovered from his possession. During preliminary verification he identified himself as Sorokhaibam Khamba Meitei 46), son of S. Narsingh Meitei of Lairenkabi Mamang Leikai. He disclosed that he is an active member of PREPAK (Pro) organisation and joined the said organisation for about two weeks back through the above mentioned arrestee (Chandramani) and presently working under the command of s/s Commander
Khambaton of PREPAK (Pro) organisation, Finance Section and he also frequently communicates with
his commander. He further disclosed that they are planning to go to Myanmar as instructed by their
commander for performing their party activities. Hence, he was arrested at his house at 07:00 am and
the recovered article was later seized by observing formalities.
Hence, the arrested persons and seized articles are handed over to OC Lamsang Police Station for taking further necessary legal action against them, it added.
