Youths are the potential for change: Minister Biswajit

KANGPOKPI: Youth are the ideas, ambitious and ability for transformation of the society. One fourth of the total population of the world is under youth which is why the world leaders including the Indian Prime Minister are focusing and giving much importance to the youth.

This was stated by Manipur Works Minister Th. Biswajit Singh while gracing the 67th Keithelmanbi Youth Association Youth Day Celebration cum a great extravaganza of world record attempt of largest Thadou Group Spheroid Dance at Sahlang Lentol, Keithelmanbi Military Colony in Kangpokpi District today.

Motivating the youth with the set of guidelines by Swami Vivekananda, the Minister said that aim, objective and ambition, the three principles for the youth shall be materialized through purity, patience and perseverance.

He also said that there will be no future if there is no present and the present will not be here if there is no past and among all these generation the youths must give much important to the present (now) as it is the most crucial one to create a bright future.

Earlier, accompanied by Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen, Hill Area Committee Chairman, Thangjalam Haokip, MLA P. Brojen Singh, MLA N. Indrajit Singh, MLA S. Subhash Chandra Singh and other dignitaries, Works Minister Th. Bishwajit Singh inaugurated the recently constructed Bailey Bridge between Teijang Veng and Vengpi of Keithelmanbi over Gundung river.

Visibly charmed with the colourful participation of various community living together in Keithelmanbi areas including Naga, Nepali and Kuki community on the 67th KYA Youth Day celebration cum a great extravaganza of world record attempt of largest Thadou Group Spheroid Dance, Minister Bishwajit Singh said that development could be attained through unity, love and faith among people dwelling together in the society.

He also assured to look into the memorandum submitted by Keithelmanbi Youth Association for construction of IVR, installation of street lamp along the National Highway between Kalapahar and Keithelmanbi Cemetery to avoid accident and hit and run case and renovation of Sahlang Lentol (Keithelmanbi Upper Playground) along with the memorandum submitted by Santalabari Parsain Area Development Committee for immediate commencement of construction work of PMGSY between National Highway and Santalabari.

Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen, who is also the local MLA, who attended the function as Functional President also emphasized on the importance role of the youth in transforming the society and development stating that the future of the nation depends on the youth.

However, the Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister exhorted the youth to refrain from drugs and other anti social activities which can demolish their power of ability and potential in transforming the society as it will not only annihilate them but the society as a whole.

The Spheroid dance, Lamkol, in local dialect, participated by almost thousand people including men and women, young and old from all community including Naga, Nepali and Kuki organized inside the playground mesmerized the dignitaries including the Ministers, MLAs. Minister Nemcha Kipgen and Hill Area Committee Chairman Thangjalam Haokip also joined the Spheroid dance.

Various other cultural displays from Nepali, Naga and Thadou community and noted singer Maun Hangjo enthralled the crowd during the function. Night session with live concert marked the occasion.
