Imphal: Social worker and intending Congress candidate of Kakching constituency, Yengkhom Nilachandra stressed on promoting Games and Sports as it would mainly help youths from drugs menace and addiction.
He made the statement as Chief Guest on the semi-final match of the 1st State Level A-side Football Tournament organised by Young Pillar Football Club, Pallel in Kakching Assembly Constituency.
Yengkhom Nilachandra continued that football is one of the most loved games by people and the maximum number of youths. He said that there many youths are addicted to drugs but games and sports could divert the attention of youths from drugs and they could live a healthier life. Sportsmen maintained discipline and manners as well as they love their colleagues and extended cooperation among the team players.
Nilachandra said that imparting proper training in games and sports could save the youths from drugs. He urged the organisers of the tournament to register and affiliate more clubs under DSA Kakching to further broaden the significance of the tournament in the future.
Encouraging the players, Y Nilachandra awarded Rs 500 each to the first goal scorers in the semi-final matches and also financially aided Young Pillar Football Club for organizing such a tournament.
The first semi-final match was played between Great Domain Reborn, Lamkang and Naorem Leikai FC, Tentha and the second match was played between FC Yaisa, Kakching and HSYDA, Thoubal.
