World Migratory Bird Day cum 65th Wildlife Week Celebration 2020 observed

Bishnupur: As observed worldwide, the World Migratory Bird Day cum 65th Wildlife Week Celebration 2020 was also observed at Mangolnganbi College Ningthoukhong on Saturday jointly organised by Bishnupur Forest Division and Governing Body of Mangolnganbi College Ningthoukhong.

Divisional Forest Officer Dr. Rebika Soibam Chanu and Secretary Governing Body of Mangolnganbi College Ningthoukhong K. Ibohal attended as presidium members of the observance.

Principal of Mangolnganbi College Ningthoukhong RK. Birjit also attended as a resource person and spoke in relation with the observance.

Dr. Rebika Soibam Chanu said that one should not kill any wildlife if they happen to come across or put them behind a cage in the name of saving lives should not be practiced.

Instead, contact or inform the staff of DFO and extend help in saving them, she added.

Winners of online slogan competitions held in connection with 65th Wildlife Week were also felicitated with cash awards, citations and gifts.

Huirem Birjesh of Little Bird School Moirang, Oinam Vivekananda of LCM Moirang and Tongbram Seityajit of Children Model Academy Thanga bagged the first, second and third position of Class V to VIII category.

And for Class IX to XII, Huirem. Luxmipriya who also bagged third position in state level competition also bagged the first position, Ningthoujam Neherika of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Bishnupur bagged the second position and Khwairakpam Daya of Thanga Government High School bagged the third position of the competition.

Other 8 people who saved wildlife namely, Anish Ahamad from Kwakta, OC of Kumbi Police Station, Sh. Samerendra  from Leimaram, Konthoujam Ojit from Ningthoukhong ward no. 3, Thiyam Loken from Ngaikhong Siphai ward no. 9, Hamom Arbin Bishnupur ward no. 3, Ahongshangbam Biramani from Kwasiphai, Dr. Huidrom Romen Special Correspondent of TOM TV from Ishok and Elangbam Premjit from Toubul, who is also the Secretary of Wildlife Explorer and also the one who discover a rare species of Butterfly were also felicitated with cash award and citation during the observance.
