Chandel: The 29th World Mental Health Day 2020 was observed on Tuesday at District Hospital, Chandel, jointly organised by District Health Society, District Mental Health Programme, Chandel under the theme “Mental Health For All. Greater Investment – Greater Access. Everyone, Everywhere….”
The observance witnessed the presence of Chief Medical Officer, Chandel Dr. Serthani Serbum; Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Chandel Dr. Joyson Mathew and District Nodal Officer (NCD), Chandel Dr. Gilbert as Chief Guest, functional President and Guest of Honour respectively.
District Nodal Officer, DMHP, Chandel Dr. Kh. Robindro Singh, giving the key note address stressed on giving maximum care and support to elderly people with dementia who had sacrificed all their joy for their children. We also should stop stigmatization and discrimination of mentally ill persons, he added.
Chief Medical Officer, Chandel Dr. Serthani Serbum, expressed that one should give equal importance to mental health especially during the pandemic.
MS, District Hospital, Chandel Dr. Joyson Mathew called on all hospital staffs to give care and respect to the patients who are mentally ill and have come to take help.
Attending as resource persons, Specialist (Paediatric), District Hospital, Chandel Dr. W. Joseph Singh spoke on “Psychological Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic”.
Specialist (Anesthesia), District Hospital, Chandel Dr. L. Rojenkumar Singh spoke on “Psychological Problems of Elderly & Our Responsibility.
