IMPHAL: The felicitation of all women and People with Disability (PWD) poll personnel at the 17th Lok Sabha Election 2019 in Imphal East District, was organized by District Election Officer, on Monday at Panchayat Bhavan, D.C. Office Complex, Porompat.
During the program the personnel were awarded with certificates for Best Electoral Practices Award of 17th Lok Sabha Election, 2019 which was awarded by Election Commission of India at New Delhi recently.
Addressing at the program, Chief Electoral Officer of Manipur, P.K. Singh thanked the organizing committees and expressed his appreciation for being invited to take part at the function. He stated that Manipur has shown its commitment to women empowerment and getting the best electoral practices award is a matter of pride for all of us. He remarked that manner in which the poll was conducted in the district was amazingly beautiful and the personnel have not committed a single mistake.
Speaking about his experience at the recent elections, he stated that though a situation was encountered in polling stations of Lilong AC on account of less number of employees to cover the stations the administration came up with the unique idea of using the services of women personnel at maximum number of stations which had never happened before in the entire Assembly Constituency of India. For promotion of women empowerment, they deserve the award, he added.
The felicitation programme was attended by District Election Officer of Imphal East, Dr. Rangitabali Waikhom, Superintendent of Police Imphal East District, Jogeshchandra Haobijam and joint CEO of Manipur, Ramananda Nongmeikapam.
