Will try to make RIMS at par with AIMS in every aspect: Ashwini

IMPHAL: Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Ashwini Kumar Choubey who was in Imphal inspected the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and said that the Central government is taking up every possible measures to prevent Coronavirus in the country.

Ashwini Kumar made the statement while speaking media persons at RIMS on Thursday after the declaration of RIMS annual meet open. He also said that staffs of the institute should work faithfully, if they want the institute to prosper and develop more in the future.

Earlier, while delivering speech at the gathering at Jubilee Hall, RIMS, Ashwini Kumar expressed his desire to increase the number of MBBS intake of the institute in the near future while adding that efforts will be made to make the institute at par with the level of All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences in every aspect.

Frequent visits by Centre leaders in the north-eastern region is a proof that the Centre is concern for the development of the northeast region, the Minister said adding that Centre government will extend possible help to make the institute a national importance since people from Myanmar has started coming in the institute for their treatments.

The people from Bihar states residing here have informed me that they can receive the same treatment provided by AIIMS at RIMS, said Ashwini. He also lauded the authority RIMS and people for maintaining cleanliness in the campus and said that they have a great role in maintaining the status of the institute.

He further said that north-eastern region of the country which is referred as chicken neck of the country is rich in culture and tradition which is known by the country and abroad.

Director of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Professor A. Santa Singh said that the institute which was started as Regional Medical College in 1972 has more than 300 acres of land which can be upgraded into All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

He informed that the rate X-ray facility is provided free of cost, price of CT Scan has been reduced to Rs. 200 though private hospitals charge around Rs. 6,000. The institute is also trying to procure an MRI machine which will be one of the latest in the world, said the director.

The director further informed that the RIMS was able to occupied ranked 28th position in All India Rankings, 2019 by National Institutional Ranking Framework and number one in entire north east states.

Under the energetic director Professor A. Santa, the institution has brought a lot of changes like in infrastructures and other equipment’s and others and brought many achievement and at the same time he also brings a huge amount of funds from the union government for the development and advancement of RIMS so far.

It can be mention that under the administration of Santa, the numbers of MBBS in the institution has increased. He gave his tireless effort at his best level in order to bring development and changes for the RIMS. His dedication and hard work towards for the welfare of every community in the state can be count as a remarkable one. He also looking forwards more for further development of the institution

Later, the Union Uinister inspected the RIMS casualty, Trauma Center, College of Nursing and Dental College of New Building and hold a meeting with official of RIMS, Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Sciences, Aizawl and North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences Shillong (NEIGRIHMS) and Ashwini Choubey distributed a fruits to patients at the hospital.

Medical Superintendent of RIMS Professor Ch. Arunkumar and other important dignitaries, doctors, senior nurses, staffs and students from nursing college attended during the gathering.
