Moreh: Protesting against the alleged negligence of the demands of the aggrieved residents along ICP by pass route, the affected people under the aegis of ICP Bypass Road Structure Committee staged a sit in protest on Friday.
Speaking to media persons at the protest site, chairman of the committee Holpao Baite said that rehabilitation and resettlement of residents along ICP Moreh bypass road should be carried out on the basis of the joint survey conducted by ADB and NHIDCL in 2018. We had been demanding the same however there is no response from the authority concern till today. We will continue to block the road expansion work along the said route till we are compensate adequately, he said.
Responding to the claims made by Thongkhopao Haokip (chairman ICP Bypass Road Committee 2016 ) who had claimed that the government had already compensated the residents who are eligible for compensation, Holpao Baite said that only 60℅ of the residents were compensated by the government and the authority tried to evict the rest 40℅ by force, which is unacceptable.
We will never compromise and will never part with our houses, structures and land, instead we will continue our agitation till the authority concerns bring an acceptable solution” he added.
