Imphal: A weak female Amur Falcon was brought to Imphal for treatment from Puching village in Tamenglong District by the People For Animals (PFA).
The Amur Falcon was brought for treatment by PFA following a visit to Puching village in connection with the arrival of Radio tagged Amur Falcon known as Irang and Chuilon, the PFA said in a press release.
Managing Trustee of PFA L. Biswajeet Meitei stated that the female Amur Falcon was found in weak condition near the campsite of volunteers of PFA. Immediately PFA volunteers gave first aid to the bird. For further treatment to be done at Imphal, forest staff and Chairman of Puching village handed over the bird to PFA.
Though the bird, which is unable to fly, didn’t show any sign or have any injury mark on the outer body, it is currently undergoing treatment at the animal shelter of PFA by consulting Doctors of State Veterinary Hospital, Sanjenthong, the release stated.
The release also stated that PFA also handed over torch light and head lamp to Chairman of Puching village Ramkhonang Golmei and Villager Authority member K. Acham and volunteers.
The handed over torch lights and head lamps was donated by MLA Khangabok A/C Ok. Surajkumar to distribute to forest staff of Tamenglong Forest Division and volunteers to encourage them.
Volunteers of PFA along with forest staff and volunteers, who have been guarding the bird amidst different weather, also visited and viewed the sites where the bird used to rest, the release states.
PFA thanked MLA Khangabok A/C Ok. Surjakumar, DFO Noney Nepolian, Councilor Thoubal Municipal Council Ward No. 1 Ok. Inaotombi and members of Longmai Nature Club for their priceless contribution and help, the release stated.
