IMPHAL: As part of its civic action program aimed at improving infrastructure in remote villages of Manipur, Assam Rifles distributed 20 antibacterial water tanks in Keithelmanbi village and five water tanks in Kangpat Khullen village on Wednesday.

It came to light while doing rutine interactions with the locals that both the village lacks basic amenities including facility for clean water. Therefore, the village authorities had approached AR to assist them in enhancing the water storage facility in their village, IGAR(S) said in a press release.

Acting promptly, AR provided a total of 20 water storage tanks to Kaithelmanbi village and five water tanks to Kangpat Khullen village, under the Assam Rifles civic action programme, IGAR(S) said.

During the event Assam Rifles troops also took the opportunity to sensitize the local populace on COVID protocols including use of face masks, hand sanitizers and adopting social distancing in their lifestyle as a viable way to prevent getting infected by the global pandemic. Face masks and hand sanitizers were also distributed in the event.

The locals appreciated the efforts and speedy response of Assam Rifles and also applauded the efforts in maintaining security and peace in this pandemic.
