THOUBAL: In a good Samaritan work amidst the lockdown and curfew, the sitting Pradhan of Wangjing Gram Panchayat under Thoubal District extended relief materials to the needy persons of the said Gram Panchayat for the second time on Sunday.
The relief materials included salt, edible oil, onion, local fermented fish (Ngari) and papadum, locally known as paphor. It is said that the help was jointly carried out along with the ward members of the GP.
Extending the help, Wangjing GP Pradhan Tekcham ongbi Sumila stated it was carried out to lessen the hardships being faced by the general public due to lockdown and added that it was the second time distribution as she had also extended the same earlier during the first lockdown.
Pradhan Sumila appealed the public to maintain SOP properly for combating the pandemic. Although we faced many hardships during lockdown, we must stay at home, we should join hands to defeat the dreaded Covid-19, she reiterated.
Stating that some months ago, the corona story seemed to be only for far off countries, she lamented that it is now spreading like wildfire in our localities. Informing that no medicine has been found so far, the Pradhan said taking strict precaution is the best medicine so far.
