THOUBAL: A volunteer of a catering service to some community quarantine centres which are being opened within Thoubal Assembly Constituency has tested positive for Covid-19. He has been admitted at Thoubal District Hospital isolation ward for treatment, official sources said.
The source informed that the positive patient was an active member of Thoubal Assembly Constituency COVID-19 Aid Committee. Altogether 9 persons from Thoubal District got tested positive on Thursday. The volunteer was among them. Remaining 8 patients were all returnees from outside state. Among them a 4-year old child who had returned from Delhi returnee was also included on the list.
It is also said that the positive volunteer took great initiative of catering to some of the community quarantine centres of Thoubal Assembly Constituency. He also used to bring lunch packs for the inmates and kept them on the table ready for the inmates to eat at every CQC and returned back. He was never in contact with those inmates though. Surprisingly, he felt suspicious of the disease and got tested and found he had contacted the virus.
As soon as his confirmation report was received, his family members have also been quarantined now at the centre at Thoubal College and necessary testing procedures were taken up.
