IMPHAL: As a part of month long Rastriya Poshan Maaah programme which commenced from September 1, 2020, a village health sanitation and nutrition day was organized by ICDS Project Imphal East-1 Sawombung at Sanjenbam Khullen Community Hall on Friday.
State Mission Manager, SISD, Binota Loitongbam stated that under the Manipur Rural Livelihood Mission, self-help groups (SHGs) have been established in different villages providing the villagers a platform to find work and to boost income for themselves, as well as to financially support themselves for their survival.
She said that the programme mainly focuses on underprivileged families. To achieve the objectives of Rastriya Poshan Maah, participation from every segment of society is essential and further there is a need for support and cooperation from every department, Binota added.
While delivering the presidential speech, DPO L. Indira expressed that people from every section need to take active part in deep discussion about the main objectives of Rastriya Poshan Maah, which is observed during September 1-30, 2020
Even though, the Anganwadi workers and helpers are performing their duties with distinction, the parents/guardians are required to build a good relationship with them at the same time, in order to ensure that the planned assistances for structuring a good healthy life reach to all new born and small children, who are the pillars of tomorrow, he said.
Indira further said that today’s society must not discriminate against the female child, urging them to recognize the contributions made by women in the society and as a reason accord equal treatment to girls as done to the boys. We must support the girl/female child in their development so that they can contribute a huge role in society building, and when a girl child is born she must be given a warm welcome, added Indira.
As a part of the programme, a Panchayat and religious leaders meeting and discussion on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was held on the day. Takhel Gram Panchayat Pradhan Moirangthem Ningthem, State Mission Manager SISD of Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission Binota Loitongbam and Legal Advisor Meitankeishangbam Pahari and DPO of ICDS Cell Imphal east Indira attended as the main dignitaries at the function.
During the programme, various nutritious food items were displayed and the young girls were presented with sanitary pads.
