UNLF denies having link with Sanjoy, Memtombi

TMB Report

IMPHAL: The proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has denied any connection whatsoever with Khangembam Sanjoy Singh, 24 years, son of Kh Manglemba of Kumbi Setapur Maning Leikai and Oinam ongbi Memtombi alias Malemleima alias Chingshangleima, wife of Oinam Ibomcha of Awang Khunou Maning Leikai, who were reportedly arrested by Manipur Police Commando.

UNLF department of Publicity director M Sak-hen in a statement reacted to Manipur Police’s press release claiming to have arrested Khangembam Sanjoy Singh and Oinam ongbi Memtombi  from Bir Tikendrajit International Airport on December 7 and Thambalkhong, Imphal east respectively, citing that they are innocent civilians.

The party has no link whatsoever with Sanjoy and does not know him, UNLF said.

The report about the arrest of Memtombi by a combined team of Police commando and Assam rifles published in today’s newspapers based on a press release of Manipur police is not true, the outfit clarified and went on to informed that although Memtombi had completed MPA training in 1997, the party has no any link with her ever since she got married in 2002.

The outfit alleged that Manipur Police has recently gone on the spree of arresting several ex-members of the party who had already left the party to lead a normal life, terming it human rights violation. It is a continuous strategy of the security force to threaten the innocent civilians to ensure that they stay away from the ongoing freedom movement and UNLF. However, UNLF stated that such a malicious strategy cannot undermine the purposeful activities of the party. The ongoing freedom movement will continue unabated until the lost freedom of Manipur is restored and a sovereign government is installed, added the outfit.
