TMB Report

IMPHAL: The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has celebrated its 20th foundation day at its Head Office complex at Lamphelpat on Friday.

The president of UCM Sunil Karam along with its General Secretary Khuraijam Athouba in the presence of various leaders from CSOs, Meira paibis Lup hoisted the organisation’s flag and observed two minutes silence to show respect to all the departed souls during the movement of 2001 against the signing of the Bangkok Agreement.

Speaking to media persons, Sunil Karam said that the UCM is an organization which has been fighting the hindrances posed against the integrity of the motherland and inhabitants of the state. He appealed to all to join hands together and try to solve the various issues and matters unitedly contending that handing others people to make our decision will not bring any right good for ourselves.

He pointed out the issue of the Indo-Naga peace talk which is 22 years old, which has been frequently brought up to affect the integrity of Manipur, so it is the right time to stand in unity to face such an issue to safeguard our motherland, Manipur. He said that the solutions for peace would not be possible to be realized through the process of peace talks by RN Ravi but after sitting together with the citizens of the state and researching more, sharing different opinions of the people in the state on the issue, the final solutions can be achieved.

He further stated that if the peace talk process includes any point that is against the interest of the people and state then the UCM will always stand against such an eventuality. He appealed to the government of India and State government not to generate such kind of political crisis amidst this critical situation Covid-19 because the communities in the state are suffering and passing through various difficulties whether it is of insufficiency of food items and variety of other complications at this moment.

On the other hand, again amid this critical condition, the government of India is in process of delimitation based on the census of 2001 which is truly an abnormal data, Sunil stated. He expressed that if the delimitation is to be done then it should be after a proper verification and linking of Aadhar card on the basis of 2021 census report. He appealed to all people in the state to find out first who is our enemy and stand unitedly for one Manipur.

UCM Consultative Committee Executive Members Yumnamcha Dilipkumar and L. Jadu were the main dignitaries of the foundation day. Many leaders from different CSOs, student’s unions, meira paibis groups also attended the foundation day.
