UCM bares fangs at Dharma Rakshak Samiti; calls for valid proof within 3 days or face legal suit

TMB Report

IMPHAL: Demanding the All Manipur Dharma Rakshak Samiti to come out with valid evidence justifying that UCM General Secretary Khuraijam Athouba’s Facebook post had derided the Hindu religion by August 21, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) cautioned that the Committee would initiate action against the organization if the latter fails to do so.

UCM Information and Public Relations Secretary BM Yaima in a statement stated that after one organization called “All Manipur Dharma Rakshak Samiti” sought for clarification from UCM General  Secretary Khuraijam Athouba regarding his August 12 Facebook post “Happy Birthday Womaniser .. You are Goat to many …”, which the Organisation maliciously attempted to link it with Lord Krishna of the Hindu religion.

The committee said that its members searched for the office of the Dharma Rakshak Samiti located at Airport road, as mentioned in the letterhead of the Oragnisation, for talks but found that the oraganisation has no office there. Subsequently, UCM tried to contact one Khel Sharma, Secretary (Orgn) of AMDRS, who did not pick up the phone call. Despite attempts to communicate with the functionaries of the Organisation by sending messages, no one responded, prompting the UCM to hunt for the functionaries of the Organisation, Yaima stated.

On August 16, one Tarun from Bamon Leikai contacted UCM on the phone during which the committee requested for talks on August 17. However, the man fixed August 18. That the Samiti has no office at Airport road came to light when UCM expressed that they would directly come to Samiti’s office for the negotiation, Yaima stated.

As agreed mutually, a meeting among the UCM and the Samiti was arranged at 4:00 PM today (Tuesday) at a Community hall at Naoremthong. However, none of the functionaries of the Samiti turned up, expressing their inability to attend the meeting, the committee said.

Such irresponsible attitude of the Dharma Rakshak Samiti has clearly proved its cowardliness and the very intention to spew venom among the people on the pretext of religion, UCM said and demanded that the Organisation should come out publicly with concrete proof justifying Athouba’s Facebook post “Happy Birthday Womaniser .. You are Goat to many …” had derided the Hindu religion.

UCM also questioned for which religion and God August 12 is reserved and how the Samiti linked the Facebook post on the day linked with Hindu God Krishna.

It questioned why the functionaries of the Organisation refused for negotiation despite UCM’s repeated requests for talks.

UCM takes the Dharma Rakshak Samiti as an organization with a malicious intention to spew venom and divide the Meetei Community following different faiths in the name of religion, Yaima said adding that the unscrupulous act of the Samiti to put the UCM leader in the wrong light cannot be taken lightly and threatened to file a suit against the Samiti.
