Bishnupur: As part of World Environment Day celebration, the Divisional Forest Officer Bishnupur and Leimapokpam Government Public High School jointly organiased a tree saplings plantation program at the Campus of the School on Friday.
Leimapokpam Zilla Parishad Member L. Jiten, Pradhan Nominee of Leimapokpam Gram Panchayat Th. Pakchao, Chairman Nominee of the School Management Committee O. Ibotomba, Former Headmistress of the School and also State Teachers Awardee L. Manglembi, Head Master In Charge of the School Sh. Rajen took part at the tree saplings plantation as key persons.
Speaking as part of the program, L. Manglembi said that the tree saplings plantation program was mainly organised in such a way to somehow extend help in restoring the present deteriorating condition of the environment.
Around 200 tree saplings which includes Parkia timoriana (Yongchak), Magnolia Teracarpo (U-Thambal), Cinnamomum camphora (Karpura), Indian trumpet (Shamba), Dillenia indica (Hei-gri), Champak (Leihao), Cashmere tree (Wang), Mango, JackFruit, Arjuna myrobalan (Mayokpha) and other medicinal purpose trees and different varieties of fruits trees were planted in the surrounding area of the School Campus.
Elected persons of Leimapokpam Gram Panchayat, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff of the School, Members of the School Management Committee also took part in the program.
