Tree plantation held at border villages

IMPHAL: Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) planted saplings of tree as part of continuing tree plantation drive at border villages of Haolanphai, SL Munpi and Sahei on Tuesday.

Over 200 saplings of different varieties were planted by the locals in the presence of Assam Rifles with an aim to promote Healthy and Green Environment, the IGAR(S) informed in a press release. The enthusiasm among the locals especially the children was commendable and motivating. Awareness among the locals as well as Armed Forces regarding significance and importance of environmental friendly measures has always been the focus of the Assam Rifles, IGAR(S) said.

The village Chiefs and Secretaries thanked Assam Rifles for taking up Tree Plantation Drive to spread environmental awareness and expressed their gratitude with a pledge to nurture the saplings into trees.
