IMPHAL: Units of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised, Tree Plantation Drive at Mantripukhri Garrison and Kaimai village of Manipur on Friday.
Mantripukhri Battalion organised a Tree Plantation Drive at Mantripukhri garrison on 24 Apr. The drive was organised as part of the ‘Green India Initiative’ as a follow up of the World Earth Day, IGAR(S) said in a press release.
The Battalion Planted a total of 2,255 saplings of multiple varieties mostly fruit bearing and long life span trees so as to have dual purpose of environment protection and Soil conservation. These tree Saplings were prepared by the battalion in the newly created nursery, aimed for such activities in future.
Likewise, with an aim to preserve the ecosystem, Tamenglong Battalion conducted a massive ‘Tree Plantation Drive’ at Kaimai village on 24th Apr 2020. Around 1100 saplings of different varieties were planted and nurtured during the drive by Assam Rifles troops.
During the Tree Plantation Drive, all precautionary measures against threat of COVID-19 including social distancing, wearing of masks were also taken.The endeavour of the Assam Rifles is to contribute as much as possible in the ‘Go Green’ initiative of Govt of India.
