IMPHAL: Imphal West Police Commando has arrested three suspected members of the proscribed RPF/PLA with bomb materials during frisking on Monday, Police said.
According to Imphal west SP K Meghachabdra, based on specific information about the movement of RPF/PLA cadres along the NH 103, a mobile check post was installed at Singjamei Parking by Imphal west CDO including woman police at about 1.30 PM today. While checking the vehicles, one Van white in colour bearing registration no MN0189757, which was coming from Kakwa side in high speed was stopped and two individuals on it were detained for verification.
Upon verification, they revealed themselves as Samukcham Mobi Singh (53) S/o S Iboyaima Singh of Khagempalli Panthak Leirak Macha, Huidrom Ningol Lairenlakpam ongbi Ibemcha Devi (38) W/o L Indrakumar of Mongjam Mayai Leikai presently staying at Langol Warok Leikai. On checking the Van, eight 1.5 Volt batteries connected in series which is usually used in IEDs concealed in a black polythene could be recovered from inside the Van. On questioning, they disclosed that the said batteties had been given by one Robertson of PLA when they visited Tamum Myanmar.
They also revealed that the batteries were supposed to be given to one Bhumeshwor of NRL Telepati city 1 Oil station. The Police team at once rushed to the fuel station and arrested Lourembam Bhumeshwor Singh (48) S/o (L) Ningthemjao of Khurai Thangajm Leikai. From his revealation, one cvlaymore IED, one remote control, one transistor, two nos of 9 Volt battery, eight nos of 1.5 Volt battery connected in series, one detonator, one 9 mm ammunition and one mobile phone could be recovered from the store room of the NRL Telepati.
The detained person also disclosed that the said IEDs were supposed to be planted at Telepati area in near future. They also revealed that they were also involved in other activities of RPF/PLA in the past. Arrested woman namely Ibemcha Devi is a street vendor who sells vegetable under BT Flyover, added the SP.
