THOUBAL: The Thoubal District VDF Welfare Association has lent their support to the ongoing strike launched by All Manipur VDF Welfare Association that had kicked off from July 16 last.
The discontent VDF personnel of Thoubal District on Wednesday staged a mass sit in protest at all the complexes of VDF Out Posts, Police Stations and VIP residential located in Thoubal District demanding their grievances.
Santosh Likmabam, the secretary of All Thoubal District VDF Welfare Association stated that they fully support the ongoing strike. “VDF are demanding regularisation of their service, keeping service security and payment of 13 months salaries at the earliest”, he said.
He continued that the All Manipur VDF Welfare Association had submitted memorandum to the Chief Minister but with no positive response so far and reiterated that it had added salt to the wound. He also said that their agitation would be continued until they meet positive commitment from the government.
General Secretary of All Thoubal District VDF welfare association H. Jiban told that their demands were genuine and it was their right to demand from the government too. He requested concerned officers of Home Department not to assign duties to VDF personnel during the strike. He warned that having based on shortage in main power and loopholes in security arrangements, any VDF personnel hadn’t been allowed to deploy duties by any officer or commanders. If found, responsibilities should be their own, he added.
