Tamenglong district police initiates public awareness

IMPHAL: Tamenglong district police has taken up a public awareness initiative through poster campaign via online and print media on cyber crimes, Friday. The campaign was propelled by the fact that during the lockdown, an unprecedented increase in cyber crimes was observed across the country including northeast states and even in the district.

In a press statement, the district police stated that many people including men, women and teenage boys and girls from north eastern States are becoming victims of various cyber crimes like job frauds, OTP and Debit card frauds, OLX and Quaker scams, cyber stalking and harassment, cyber pornography, cyber defamation, cyber bullying etc.

In view of increasing cyber crimes cases related to northeast states, and also as a preventive measure and to help the victims of cyber crimes the campaign was organized, added Addl. SP of Tamenglong, Karthik Malladi.

The victims have been advised to report cyber crimes to call free numbers at Tamenglong police: 7630093008, National Women Helpline: 181 and National Cyber Crime Helpline: 155260.
