IMPHAL: Seven more fresh cases were detected for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours taking the state’s total count to 1234.
According to a statement issued by Additional Director Health Department and COVID-19 Common Control Room Spokesperson Dr Khoirom Shasheekumar Mangang in late evening, 660 samples were tested at JNIMS lab, of which 7 samples turned out to be positive for the contagion. Of them, four cases belong to Senapati district and one each from Imphal east district, Bishnupur district and Kangpokpi district. All the individuals who tested positive recently returned from different states. All the patients have been shifted to COVID care centres. Health authority is taking up all necessary preventive and control measures like containment and contact tracing, added the statement.
59 persons were discharged from the Hospitals on Tuesday after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. 5 patients were discharged from Covid Care Centre, Meitram, 19 from Covid Care Centre Ukhrul, 2 from RIMS, 24 from JNIMS and nine from District Hospital Churachandpur.
With this, State’s total active COVID-19 cases stands at 681. Till date, altogether 553 patients have been recovered and discharged, recording a recovery rate of 44.81 percent.
Doctors, nurses and supporting staff in frontline duties for Covid 19 undergo quarantine after duties as per protocol. Government has arranged free quarantine facilities for such Health Care Workers at all locations. However, if some Health Care Workers would prefer to stay in hotel/ paid quarantines (on self payment), that has also been allowed, said the Health Department.

All the 681 active COVID-19 cases are currently undergoing treatment at RIMS COVID care centre, RIMS, JNIMS, District Hospital Bishnupur, UNACCO school, Meitram, TK Woodland Resort, Tamenglong higher Secondary school, CCC/IO Ward Churachandpur, CCC, Senapati, District Hospital Ukhrul, District Hospital Thoubal, IGTU Makhan, CCC Kakching, and District QCs respectively.
452 samples were tested at RIMS lab and all turned out to be negative. 660 samples were tested at JNIMS and all samples were tested negative except 7.
Altogether 50994 samples have been tested in the state so far, of which 1234 tested positive, said a report of IDSP Manipur.
