Tally jumps to 2317 with 31 more fresh cases; 22 infected patients have no significant travel history

IMPHAL: The total count of COVID-19 positive cases has spiked to 2317 with the 31 more (24 males, 7 females) testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

Majority of newly infected individuals do not have significant travel history.

The 31 cases were detected at VRDL of RIMS (10), Thoubal district hospital (4), Churachandpur (8), Tamenglong (8) and Mobile Testing team Imphal west (1) with Imphal west district reporting five cases, while there were eight cases each from Churachandpur and Tamenglong and 10 from Thoubal districts, according to a release by COVID-19 common control room.

All except one person from Imphal west and 8 from Tamenglong  from Thoubal do not have significant travel history but have local risk history. The infected patients will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement.

The Control Room further stated that 56 persons were discharged after they were found negative for the contagion. The break up is Covid care centre RIMS (4), CCC Meitram (12), Ukhrul (9), Senapati (23) Thoubal (5) and RD Wing Lamphel (3).

State’s total count of active COVID-19 cases stands at 702 with 1615 patients out of 2317 having recovered, thus pegging an improved recovery rate at 69.70 percent.

According to a status update by IDSP Manipur, 305 samples were tested at RIMS and 10 of them came positive for the Virus. 8 samples out of 32 tested at Tamenglong District Hospital turned out to be positive while 13 samples out of 358 tested through Antigen test came positive.

According to Our Thoubal Correspondent, 13 more individuals in the district have tested positive on Tuesday. One sample out of 74 tested at Thoubal district hospital Rapid Antigen test was detected positive. Six samples out of 110 tested by the Mobile team at Khekman, six samples tested at RIMS were found positive.
