TA & Hills minister launches COVID-19 inoculation drive in CCPur

Imphal (DIPR): Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister Vungzagin Valte, who is also in-charge of Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts, launched COVID-19 vaccination drive for Churachandpur district on Saturday at Churachandpur District Hospital campus and gave out the vaccination certificate to the first three beneficiaries of Covishield injection.  The program was organized by District Administration, Health Department and District Health Society, Churachandpur.

Before the historic event of launching the COVID-19 vaccine, one minute silence was observed in memory and honour of the people who have died from coronavirus and all the valiant efforts that were made on their behalf.

Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, the Minister applauded the district administration, medical doctors and frontline workers who risked their own life during the COVID-19 pandemic. Expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister Modi for making Covishield available through his guidance and efforts, the Minister said that India is not lagging behind other countries in the fight against the coronavirus. The Minister also urged the people to understand and follow the guidelines associated with the administration of this vaccine and not to put the blame on the medical departments.     

On the other hand, TMB correspondent from Churachandpur reported that the MLA of Churachandpur V Hangkhanlian, MLA of Singhat AC and chairman of MANIREDA Ginsuanhau Zou, respective DC of Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts, top police officials and CMOs and staff of the Medical Department attended the launch.

Valte said that the medical department’s effort was laudable   amidst hardship saying that under the able leadership of the PM of India we had come this far. He congratulated the scientists, medical experts and companies that are manufacturing the vaccine saying that this is BJP’s initiative but it is for all. The chief guest also said that the drive will not cover people below 18 years and those who are symptomatic as per guidelines and assured the people that Covishield is one of the best and safest vaccines.

  The MLA of Churachandpur AC said that this invention of   vaccine in India shows that Indian medical scientists are no less than their others counterpart elsewhere  saying that he  appreciated the effort of the  doctors of Churachandpur District  who contributed to make the only  Covid 19 positive operation theatre  in the district which also happens to be the only one in Manipur.

The MLA of Singat AC said that we mourned those whom we lost due to Covid 19, and I pray that no more life is lost as we started this vaccination drive.

The DC of Ccpur said that it is a historic day that can’t be forgotten where we strive hard with the District Administration hard pressed to check price rise and the imposition of curfew etc. It is a hard time for the officials but good coordinated effort was infused during this troubled time and we have our reward today, he said and asked the people to maintain SOP during the vaccination.

 After the launching program the CMO, MS of Ccpur District Hospital and DFWO had volunteered to be injected of the vaccination followed by other medical staff numbering 100 as per guideline. The CMO Dr VC Pau said that they had volunteered to take the first dose due to the fact that some people are apprehensive of the newly invented vaccine saying it was safe with the first three tested being presented with certificates by the district in charge minister.

Speaking to the media persons on the sideline of the event regarding income tax deduction, the Minister said that the DDOs of departments of government of Manipur and its PSUs have been instructed to intimate the exempted list of employees on the record of their service books to the income tax office. Tribals working in the specified areas are exempted by section 10(26) of Income Tax Act, 1961and there is no question of submitting ST certificate every year, he added.
