TMB Report

Imphal: Several Manipuris stranded in Maharashtra due to COVID-19 lockdown are facing a tough time and have send request to the Manipur Government to evacuate them from there.

Laimayum Amekana of Nagamapal, who works as a freelancer in a Mumbai based company told The Morning Bell reporter that hundreds of Manipuris are working in different parts of Maharashtra. After the nationwide lockdown was announced, they have been experiencing a hard life for the last two months and now their suffering has even more worsened than before.

The fact that Maharashtra reported highest number of COVID-19 positive cases and death cases has rather triggered a strong panic among the Manipuris stranded there. Although the state Government is working hard to evacuate the stranded Manipuris in other states, nothing is being done to evacuate the Manipuris in Maharashtra, she lamented.

Except for the relief items once provided by RSS, the stranded Manipuris in Maharashtra have not received any help from anybody till date, she appealed to the state Government to arrange a special train to evacuate the stranded Manipuris from Maharashtra.
