State sees sudden spurt of COVID-19 cases with 132 fresh cases

 IMPHAL: The state saw a sudden spike in number of confirmed COVID-19 positive cases with 132 testing positive for the contagion in the last 24 hours. According to a press release issued by COVID-19 Common Control Room, the total cumulative cases of COVID-19 has spiked to 1582. Total count of active cases stand at 750 while 832 patients have recovered and have been discharged, recording a recovery rate of 52.59 percent by Friday evening. Of the 132 cases, 124 cases were found positive at RIMS, five at JNIMS and 3 at Testing Centre, District Hospital Jiribam. The district wise distribution of fresh cases is one from Imphal East, 24 from Imphal west, 9 from Jiribam, 11 from Kakching, 28 from Kamjong, 10 from Tamenglong, 8 from Thoubal, 4 from Senapati ad 37 from Ukhrul. The health authority, however, did not reveal the travel history of the individuals. All the patients have been shifted to COVID care centres. Health authority is taking up all necessary preventive and control measures like containment and contact tracing, added the statement. 33 patients were discharged from the treatment centres today after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. 15 patients were discharged from Covid Care centre, Meitram, 12 from CCC Ukhrul and 6 from Senapati. The statement further stated that after one lady doctor of JNIMS having tested positive, another hospital orderly of RIMS was tested positive on Friday.   Meanwhile, status update shared by IDSP informed that all the 750 active COVID-cases are currently undergoing treatment at RIMS COVID care centre, RIMS, JNIMS, District Hospital Bishnupur, UNACCO School, Meitram, TK Woodland Resort, Tamenglong Higher Secondary School, CCC/IO Ward Churachandpur, CCC, Senapati, District Hospital Ukhrul, District Hospital Thoubal, IGTU Makhan, CCC Kakching, and District QCs respectively. In the last 24 hours, 662 samples were tested at RIMS and 124 of them turned out to be positive. 289 samples were tested at JNIMS and 5 of them turned out to be positive while 3 samples were found positive when 195 samples were tested at District Hospital Jiribam (Antigen Test).
