State sees single day spike of 119 Covid-19 local transmitted cases, IW alone reports 85

IMPHAL: In what could be termed as a major setback to the state Government’s effort to contain the spread of Covid-19, the state saw the highest single day spike of locally transmitted cases of the deadly virus with 119 locals sans significant travel history testing positive for the contagion in the last 24 hours.
According to a statement issued by Dr Shasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director Health Department and Spokesperson Covid Common Control Room, state’s total count of Covid-19 positive cases has risen to 5726 with as many as 140 fresh cases testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
 122 individuals belonging to general population and 18 personnel of Central Armed Police Forces were tested positive for Covid-19 at Viral Research & Diagnostic Laboratory of RIMS (12), VRDL JNIMS (19), Thoubal (8), Churachandpur (2), Imphal East RAT (3), Imphal West RAT (73), IRL (1), Kangpokpi (2), Shija Hospital (1),Bishnupur (2), Babina Diagnostic.
Except three persons from Kangpokpi district and Senapati district, 119 cases are locally transmitted, informed State Health Department.
The figure includes 85 Imphal West district, 10 from Imphal east, eight from Thoubal, one each from Ukhrul and Senapati, two from Churachandpur district, five from Kangpokpi district, four from Bishnupur and six from Chandel. All the infected patients will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement of CCR.
Health department further informed that no Covid related death case was reported in the state.
Meanwhile, 128 Covid patients were discharged from CAPF (46), Senapati district (2), CCC Lamboikhongnangkhong (47), CCC UNACCO Meitram (20), PR Kakching (3), RD Wing Lamphel (2), TK Ukhrul (4), JNIMS (2) and CCC Kangpokpi (2) after they were found Covid-19 free on RT PCR test.
With altogether 3957 Covid-19 patients having recovered and been discharged, state’s active Covid-19 cases stand at 1743. Recovery rate pegs at 69.11 percent by Thursday.
