State recovery rate improves to 68.57%; Noney, Pherzawl, Tengnoupal free from COVID-19

IMPHAL: In a major relief for the state, recovery rate for COVID-19 cases rose to 68.57 percent with the number of recovered cases exceeding the tally of confirmed COVID-19 positive cases by Monday. The districts of Noney, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal were also declared COVID-19 free with all patients having recovered and discharged.

According to a press release by the COVID-19 Control Room on Monday, altogether 85 persons were discharged over the last 24 hours from CCC Meitram (25), RD Wing Lamphelpat (10), CCC Kamjong (5), Senapati district (9), Ukhrul (35), JNIMS (1), thus recording an improved recovery rate by 68.57 percent.

It further stated that districts of Noney, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal are now COVID free with all the COVID-19 patients from districts having recovered by 100 percent.

During the same time, 14 more fresh cases were reported taking the total count of Covid-19 confirmed cases in the state has reached 1925 while the numbers of active and recovered cases stand at respectively 605  and 1320 by Monday.

According to a release by COVID-19 common control room, the 14 fresh COVID-19 cases (9 males, 5 females) were detected at RIMS lab (4 samples) and District Hospital Thoubal (4) in the last 24 hours with Thoubal district reporting 12 of the infected persons, followed by one each in Imphal West district and Kamjong district. Of them, 10 persons including a technician working at RIMS belonging to Thoubal have no travel history.  The infected patients will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containtment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement.

According to another status update by IDSP Manipur, in the last 24 hours, as many as 687 samples were tested at RIMS (416), JNIMS (83), Antigen test (175), Babina diagnostic (13), of which only 14 were found positive.

Meanwhile, according to DIPR, due to immense pressure from the local public for allowing District Hospital, Bishnupur to resume its normal functioning, the District Administration along with Medical Team, Bishnupur Municipal Council members, COVID Relief Committee members and Meira Paibi leaders inspected and decided to relocate COVID Care Centre from the District Hospital to Old DC Office Complex at Loukoipat, Bishnupur with immediate effect.

Bishnupur has been using District Hospital as COVID Care Centre since 8th June, 2020.
