State police continue to crack down curfew, lockdown violators

Imphal: As a part of security measures taken up by State Police in order to enforce the total lockdown and curfew and also to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the State, State Police continued to crack down on curfew and lock down violators.

ADGP (LO) L. Kailun in a press release stated that Manipur Police Department detained 662 curfew and lockdown violators and 365 vehicles during a drive conducted on Tuesday.

They were produced before the concern magistrates and imposed fine of Rs. 50,550.

ADGP (LO) in the press release appeal the public to follow the guidelines issued by the Government and stay indoors for their own safety and safety for the public.

For those who have to travel to purchase medicines/grocery items on days markets are open, they ought to maintain social distancing, ADGP (LO) urged.

ADGP (LO) also stated that Manipur Police Department will continue to enforce strictly the curfew and lockdown in the days to come.

Meanwhile, altogether 9055 curfew and lockdown violators and 5479 vehicles were detained and fine of Rs. 6,00,440 were collected as fine during drives carried by the State police from March 25, 2020 to April 13, 2020.

Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur,Ukhrul,Kamjong,Tamenglong, Noney, Churachandpur, Pherzawl, Chandel, Tengnoupal, Senapati, Kangpokpi and Jiribam District Police Station are the police stations where the drive have been carried out.

During the drive from March 25, 2020 to April 13, 2020, 15 cases under DM Act, 2005 (Covid-19 Pandemic) were registered and one person was also arrested for uploading communally inciting messages in social media.
