State continues to ensure uninterrupted supply of PDS rice

IMPHAL: State Government continues to ensure uninterrupted supply of food grains, specially rice, to the public during ongoing lockdown in the State to contain outbreak of COVID-19. The Government had been distributing PDS rice under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) and Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) for the month of April, 2020 to beneficiaries of 60 Assembly Constituencies of the State.

On Saturday at Thoubal District, 1007.7 quintal of rice under PMGKAY and 205.975 quintal under OMSS were distributed to the beneficiaries of Lilong A/C.

There was also lifting of PDS rice from certain FCI Godowns located different parts of the State today. In respect of Senapati District, 1405.87 quintal of rice under PMGKAY and 370.82 quintal under OMSS were lifted from FCI Godown at Ningthoupham for its Karong A/C.

Noney District also reported lifting of 75 quintal of rice under OMSS from FCI Godown, Sangaiprou for Nungba A/C today.

Chingai A/C of Ukhrul District had completed lifting of rice under OMSS with 1017 quintal lifted on 24th April, 2020 from Somsai Godown, Ukhrul.

It may be mentioned that Imphal West, Imphal East, Jiribam, Kamjong, Bishnupur, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal Districts among others had, till date, completed lifting of its allocated quantity of PDS rice under PMGKAY for the month of April, 2020.
