State Celebrates Jana Neta Irawat Day; Tributes paid


Imphal: The 124th Birth Anniversary of Hijam Irawat (Irawat Day) was celebrated across the state on Wednesday with Chief Minister N. Biren Singh leading in paying floral tributes to the statue of Hijam Irawat at Irawat Square, Lilashing Khongnangkhong, Thangmeiband, Imphal.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Y. Joykumar, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary, DGP and various high ranking officials also offered their tribute to Jana Neta Irawat.

Speaking to media persons, Chief Minister said that we should not forget the contribution of the great leader who selflessly dedicated his life for the welfare of the society. Let us follow his ideals, thoughts and work towards inclusive development in the State, he added.

It may be mentioned that the 124th Birth Anniversary of Hijam Irawat (Irawat Day) is being celebrated across the State and various parts of the NorthEast India by different organizations.

Painting Competition

A painting competition for children was organised by Sharma arts and Crafts House (SACH) in connection with 124th Irabot Day Celebration on Wednesday at SACH Complex in Khongman Zone – 3, Imphal.

The occasion was attended by Trustee SACH B. Mahendra Sharma, Pradhan Khongman GP M. Nungshirei, President Khongman Students Club O. Inaoba, Advisor SACH Dr. Kh. Ajit Singh and Legal Advisor SACH K. Joychandra as Presidium members respectively.

As part of the occasion, the painting competition was organised only for the children on the theme of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot life history and his ideology.

Prizes to the winners of the painting competition were also distributed accordingly on the occasion.


In Bishnupur district, the 124th Hijam Irabot Birthday Anniversary Day was organised by Keirungbam Youth Development Club (KYDC) Ningthoukhong at Ningthoukhong Ward no. 7 Community Hall.

Retd. Chief Secretary O. Nabakishore, Councilor Ningthoukhong Council Ward no. 7 Kh. Sonolata, Nambol Higher Secondary School Senior Lecturer S. Birchandra,  KYDC Kh. Khogen, Secretary L. Diken attended as presidium members of the occasion.

As part of the occasion, competition on different category on painting, Mathematics, Science and Computer on written basis for Class I to Class X and an open category was held.

Atleast 35 students from Ningthoukhong Ward no. 7 participated in the painting competition.

Winners were awarded cash prizes and citations.
