SOPs is the balwalk, joint efforts is our thew to combat the second wave: Kpi AC MLA

Kangpokpi: AC MLA Nemcha Kipgen, whose efforts and diplomacy in the fight against the first wave of COVID-19 had been highly appreciated in national level begin to embark on various strategies and plan to combat the second wave in her assembly constituency.

The then in-charge Minister of Kangpokpi and Senapati during the first wave, Nemcha Kipgen meet with district administration, police, concerned SDOs, and local bodies in a review meeting at conference hall, DC Office Kangpokpi today girding their loins for the dreaded second wave in her assembly constituency.

The local MLA while chairing the first review meeting in connection with the second wave of COVID-19 take stock of the situation of all departments preparedness, fallibility, enforcement of SOPs, vaccination, etc. and discussed at length various plans and strategies to contain the second wave.

The meeting decided to activate the Covid Care Centre at Leikop at the earliest along with installation of at least 20 bedded Intensive Care Unit like accomodation to felicitate patient infected with the virus.

It was also decided that Community Home Isolation Centre shall be activate at the earliest to accomodate asymptomatic covid patients.

The MLA also instructed the medical department to procure at least 50 oxygen cylinder and 100 purse oximeter.

She instructed the district police to strict monitor and enforce SOPs and guidelines of COVID and take action to any defaulters according to the law while directing the district administration monitor the price hike of commodities and regulate the same.

She further said that containment zone must be properly seal and strictly monitor by all concerned department.

According to the district administration, current around 20 vilages have been already declared containment zone in the district while some are already in a position for de-containment while the police have been strictly monitoring the containment zones.

Highlighting the severity of the second wave, MLA Nemcha Kipgen said that the second wave is so fast and severe that it is compare like that of a rocket stating once one is infected with the virus it immediately attack the lungs and there is no time to treat it.

Comparing the second wave with the rocket, the MLA said that once the second wave virus start spreading among the community it will be very difficult to control it so it is cannot be taken lightly and everyone must take extreme precautions not to let the virus reach to the level of community spreading.

‘SOPs is our defensive wall so we must strictly adhere to the SOPs and guidelines while a joint efforts is our muscular strength so we must all work together by putting our head together’, the MLA asserted.

She also said that our joint efforts also required as much brain as brawn and request all local bodies of Kangpokpi Town to render physical well as mental support to the district administration, district police, medical department and other frontline workers without any hesitation considering the severity of the second wave in the larger interested humanity.

She also appeal all the people of Kangpokpi AC to get vaccinated without any hesitation while cautioning that prevention is better than cure and urged the people to take maximum prevention by following the SOPs and guidelines.

Meanwhile, the MLA also said that rice for the month of May and June will be distributed shortly and urged the local civil bodies to extent cooperation to the concerned department and authority so as to ensure that no one goes hungry while combating the second wave.

With the detection of eight more positive case in the district, Kangpokpi District caseload(active case) reached 57 while 48 are under home Isolation, one hospitalized at Shoja hospital, two at Covid Care Centre at Bal Bhavan and six in isolation camp.

According to the medical department, so far around 4500 only were vaccinated. However, since the past few days there has been rush for vaccination in the district.

The review meeting was attended by DC Kangpokpi, Addl. SP(Ops) Kangpokpi, SDOs of Kangpokpi, Champhai and T.Waichong, in-Chatge CMO, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Kangpokpi, representatives of Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization and Kangpokpi Youth Union.
