Six Cong Corporators, one NPP Corporator join BJP; many Cong workers joining BJP, says CM

IMPHAL: Six Congress and one NPP corporators of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Wednesday switched their allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP Manipur Pradesh President Prof S Tikendra and Chief Minister N Biren Singh warmly received the new faces in the party at a simple function held at Chief Minister’s official residence at Sanjengthong.

The Congress corporators who joined BJP are L. Arenkumar (Gandhi) (ward no 4), RK Jiten (ward no 7), Maibon Phaomei (ward no 26), G. Bino, (ward no 24), Joy Kabui, (ward no 21) and O. Romeo (ward no 13). The NPP’s corporator is M. Joychandra (ward no 11).

Felicitating the corporators, Chief Minister N Biren said that several Congress workers have earlier joined BJP and many more are also in the line. The BJP led coalition Government continues to gain public trust by the dint of the various development achievements and changes brought about in a short period of three years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan “Saabk ke Saath, Saabke Bikas”.

If the various developments and achievements brought about in the state by the Government in three years and four months is studied point by point, it can be claimed that the Prime Minister’s promise “BJP will do in 15 months what Congress failed to do so in 15 years” has been fulfilled, Chief Minister said.

BJP Manipur Pradesh President Prof S Tikendra said that the joining of the new corporators has given an opportunity to BJP to bring development in Imphal Municipal Corporation.
