Seven samples tested negative for COVID-19, no new case

IMPHAL: The state has no new positive case of COVID-19 as seven samples tested at VRDL, RIMS came out negative on Thursday.

According to another status report updated by State Surveillance Officer, IDSP, Manipur, 303 numbers of samples of the state have been tested at RIMS, JNIMS and NIV, Pune and the results, except two, came out negative.

On March 24, a young woman from Thangmeiband with travel history of UK tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the first victim in the state.

However, the girl recovered after she tested negative in the third test. Some days back, she was discharged from the JNIMS hospital. The second COVID-19 positive patient is from Lilong who attended Delhi Nizamuddin congregation and is still being kept at RIMS isolation ward.

Altogether, 6716 persons are currently under Home Quarantine and Government Quarantine facilities. Of them, 6565 persons were returnees from outside the state, 21 from foreign countries. On Thursday, 148 new persons who entered the state from outside the state were kept under Home quarantine while 28 are at Government quarantine facilities.

On Thursday, 80 persons who entered the state via Mao gate and 99 via Jiribam gate, bordering with Assam were screened. No persons entered the state through Moreh, Behiang, Sinzawl, Tusom and Kamjong on the day, said the report.

Altogether 1,91,362 persons who entered the state through different entry points including Imphal airport have been screened so far.
