Scientific Advisory Meeting organized at ICAR-KVK Churachandpur

IMPHAL: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Churachandpur, Pearsonmum on Monday organized Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting 2021-22 at Conference Hall of ICAR-KVK Churachandpur, Pearsonmun through on and off line. Necessary SOPs were strictly maintained.

The meeting was chaired by I. M. Singh, Joint Director, ICAR-Manipur Centre. More than 17 numbers of statutory SAC members from different Departments of Govt. of Manipur viz., Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, NABARD, SBI RSETI, CAU, NYK, Senior Scientists & Head of ICAR-KVKs, SMS of ICAR-KVKs, and Scientists from ICAR-Manipur centre attended the meeting.

The Chairman, Dr. I. M. Singh, Joint Director, ICAR-Manipur Centre welcomed all the members of SAC from different line departments. In his welcome address he stressed upon the production and productivity enhancement during the effect of climate change and needs to conserve the natural resources particularly in hilly region through area specific farming system which need based short and long term planning. He also suggested improving livestock sector that plays an important role in strengthening the overall rural economy of Manipur. Further, he applauded the role of ICAR KVK-Churachandpur for outstanding contributions within limited resources, better cooperation and collaborative programs for the betterment of the farming community.

Sh. Khaikhopau Ngaihte, AC-DC Churachandpur district stressed upon the price fluctuation of agriculture products in the market according the season which needs to be stabilized. He also detailed the importance of awareness on sustainable farming by adopting modern technology for the welfare of the farming community of the district.

Sh. T. Lianminthang, Director, SBI, RSETI, Churachandpur mention about the present agriculture and allied sector scenario of the district and draw the attention to various stack holders to coordinate in capacity building programmes, marketing linkages, developing farmers producers groups. He also suggested to work together with the line departments and other central government organizations.

Sh. T. Khaikhomang, MDC, Lanva Block appreciated the overall performance of KVK activities. He further suggested to sustained the technologies demonstrated among the farmers to improve the livelihood status in the district.

The programme was followed by presentations of annual report 2020-21 of KVK activities, action taken report of previous proceedings and action plan 2020-21 by Dr. S. Roma Devi, Senior Scientists & Head, ICAR-KVK Churachandpur.

All the members gave constructive suggestions for the development and livelihood security of the farming community in the state. Progressive farmer members from different villages of Churachandpur appreciated the efforts of ICAR – KVK, Churachandpur for their enduring efforts towards the farming community in the district.

Miss Manngaihkim coordinates for smooth conducting the programme. All the staffs of ICAR-KVK actively participated the programme. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. L. Somendro Singh, CTO (Soil Science).
