Satyabhama Murder Case: Judgment order reserved for March 20

IMPHAL: The Session Judge, Imphal West on Friday fixed March 20 for judgment order in connection with rape and murder of Ningombam Satyabhama, the junior research fellow of RIMS after the final hearing of the eight year long trail of the case.

The judgment order was reserved after the hearing of the submission of defense counsels of the accused persons and APP of the state.

Today, all the accused persons namely Kshtrimayum Biju alias Holendro son of Ibungo of Irilbung Thongkhong, Thoudam Jiban son of late Thoiba of Irilbung Machahal Leikai and Thoijam Thesis alias Aboi alias James son of T Jugindro of Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai were produced before the court from judicial custody of Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa for the final hearing.

It may be mention that the victim who was a Junior Research Fellow of Pathology Department of RIMS was found brutally murdered with bruise marks on her neck and body in a canal at Wangkhei Loumanbi Loukol near Irilbung police station, Imphal East on April 5, 2013 couples of days after she left her Kakwa residence.

The accused persons were arrested few days after the incident, by special investigation team (SIT) constituted to arrest the persons involved and solve the brutal murder case.

After the investigation of the case the IO of the case submitted the charge sheet before the concern court and charges was framed against the alleged accused on September 20, 2013 under Section 302 Murder, 120-B common intension and 376 IPC rape.

The deposition of prosecution witness started from December 5, 2013 and concluded on September 1, 2017.
