Imphal: United Development Committee (SALAI), Wabagai Kendra has announced that the organization will field Md. Sakir Ahmed to contest the Manipur Legislative Assembly election 2022 from 36-Wabagai Assembly Constituency.
Briefing reporters at Khelakhong community hall on Tuesday, UDC (SALAI) President Abdus Salam conveyed that a meeting of the organization involving key leaders unanimously decided to field Sakir Ahmed as a candidate from Wabagai Assembly Constituency in the 2022 Assembly election.
“With the objective of bringing sparkling development in the constituency and ensure right of its people beyond communal lines, the committee decided to project me as a candidate,” Abdus Salam said, seeking support from the people for the cause.
Sakir Ahmed while showing gratitude to UDC for projecting him as a candidate from the constituency said that he was very fortunate to contest the election under the advice of the organization. He assured that he would never cheat and act against the wishes of the people and the organization.
Admitting that Wabagai AC is lagging behind development in all sectors, he said that other Assembly constituencies have moved faster than Wabgai when it comes to infrastructure and development in education, health, connectivity, sports sectors etc. He said that he decided to contest the election to mitigate such shortages in the Assembly constituency and bring all round development as per the wish of the people.
“Wabagai AC has been engulfed with public grievances and complaints. Once I win the election, I will work to ensure that the AC is free from corruption and deficiency in every sector,” he said.
He clarified that he is not affiliated to any political party till date; however, he desired to contest the election under the banner of a national party.
