CBI carries out raid in three different locations, recovers docs and articles
IMPHAL: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Anti-corruption Bureau Imphal on Friday carried out a raid at the office of Loktak Development Authority (LDA) and at the residences of two former Project director of LDA in connection with the LDA scam of Rs. 224 crores for cleaning floating bio mass at Loktak Lake.
The raids were carried out by a team of CBI Anti-Corruption Bureau Imphal led by a Senior Officer at the office of LDA located at secure building complex, and at the private residence of former Project Director Chongtham Gojendro of Singjamei Mathak Chongtham Leikai and private residence of former Project director Thounaojam Ibobi of Khoyathong Irom Pukri Mapal simultaneously from early morning till noon.
During the raid, the CBI team recovered some incriminating documents and articles related to the LDA scams from the said three different locations.
Mention may be made that the vigilance and Anti department Manipur had lodge an FIR in the year 2017 against the former Chief Minister O. Ibobi and two former project director of LDA in connection with Rs. 244 crores LDA scam for cleaning floating bio mass at the Loktak Lake for alleged offence of cheating during August 2008 to October 2009.
It is said that on October last, the state government had given approval for taking up the investigation of Loktak scam to CBI from Vigilance and Anti-corruption cell Manipur. After taking over the case CBI had registered an FIR for further investigation under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018 and other offences relating to the same transactions/offence.
Mention may be made that former Chief Minister O. Ibobi and former Project director Th. Ibobi was granted bail by single bench high court of Manipur on April 2018 in connection with the Anticipatory bail filed before the court in connection with the case.
