The prestigious award will be conferred during a workshop to be conducted on July 30 in virtual mode. The workshop is to be conducted on the modalities of handling water, waste, greenery, sanitation and energy in the Higher Education Institutions and the villages adopted by them.

Notably, RIMS is the only medical college in entire Northeast and West Bengal to figure amongst the top 40 medical Institutions and Universities of the country.

The premier medical institute stood 38th position in National Institutional Framework of Human Resource Development (NIRF) ranking 2019-20, released by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Clinching another feat, RIMS has successfully installed two bio-medical waste incinerators with the objective of maintaining hygienic environment in the institute. Biomedical waste incinerator is a process of incineration in which combustion of waste in the presence of oxygen in a controlled way in order to destroy it or transform it into less hazardous, less bulky or more controllable constituents. Biomedical waste covers a wide range of used medical equipment. These can potentially be infectious so they need to be disposed of responsibly.

Developed by Thermax Limited Water Waste Solutions, Pune, the two bio-medical waste incinerators installed at RIMS have an operating capacity of 105 kg per hour.
