RIMS, APMA Hojai Assam observes the 129th Patriots day

IMPHAL: The Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) observed the 129th Patriots Day at its New Examination Hall, RIMS on Thursday.

A press release from RIMS stated that the director of the institute Professor A. Santa led a floral tribute to the heroes of Manipur who fought against the British during Anglo-Manipuri war. A patriotic song was presented by Dr. Ak. Ibohal Singh and Janeshwori Devi followed by a poem recited by Dr. AK Ibohal Singh.

During the observation, Professor Dr. A Santa Singh stated that the present generation should try to emulate the sacrifice made by the freedom fighters. We must show patriotic courage and spirit of sacrifice to make a better Manipur.

Medical Superintendent Professor Dr. Ch. Arunkumar Singh also spoke during the observance. Heads of Department, faculty members from medicals, dental and college of nursing Superintendent of RIMS hospital, nursing officials, staff attended the patriotic day observation.

On the other hand, the Assam Pradesh Manipuri Association (APMA) Hojai observed the 129th Patriot’s Day at Hojai in Assam. It was stated that during the observation led by MLA Hojai Assembly Constituency Shiladitya Devi, president of APMA Yumnam Nayan Singh and others members of its association paid homage by laying floral tribute and salute to the portrait of Bir Tikendrajit.

During the observation, general secretary APMA Loitonjam Akham said that the statue of Bir Tikendrajit signified that Hojai has proven that since our forefathers Meetei Manipuris and Hojai had a blood relationship. It was said that the statue narrated a story of our entire brave fighters in front of the large communities of Assam. He said that due to Covid-19 pandemic the day has been observed on a smaller scale.

General secretary of APMA Laitonjam Akham, organising secretary Hojai Nobin Saphongba, executive member Yumnam Renuka, president of Vishma Hindu Parishad Hojai District Committee Ratan Roy, Senior Social Activist of RSS Uma Sangker Gosm retired headmaster M. Biren Singh attended the observation. Many people of the residence, renowned personalities and well-wishers were also attended on the day.
