Relief Materials Distributed

TMB Report

Imphal: The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in collaboration with the Manipur Forest Department, Environmental Social Reformation & Sangai Protection Forum (ESRSPF), Unique Wildlife Protection Committee (UWLPC), Wildlife & Biodiversity Conservation Committee (WBCC) and local clubs have distributed relief materials to around 180 vulnerable families living around KLNP who are struggling to arrange their daily meals during this tough time.

A press release signed by Project Research Fellow WII Akoijam Santikumar Singh stated that the distribution was done through voluntary donations and the relief materials were distributed door-to-door on April 30, 2020 and May 1, 2020 while maintaining the guidelines given for public hygiene and social distancing.

Santikumar further stated that the countrywide lockdown which is being imposed in order to contain the spread of COVID19 is one important step taken up by the government.

Although the lockdown has been successful in minimising the disease spread across the country, it has also been impacting lives of many people in almost every aspect, Santikumar stated.
